Slumber Party was formed as a four girl band in 1998. From Detroit, founder Aliccia Berg was a student of Michigan State when she opted to form an indie rock group instead. Their self titled debut album was produced by Runaways founder Kim Fowley. Fowley suggested the band name Slumber Party and the name stuck and gave way to the band and the album.

Released on the Kill Rock Stars label, Slumber Party released four albums form 2000 to 2006. Their most recent album “Musik” was influenced by early all girl rock bands such as The Raincoats and The Slits. Their ever evolving style of music continues to grace indie rock fans, but Slumber Party’s other lucrative influences like Bob Dylan and David Bowie gave their songs an edgy yet psychedelic, folky bubblegum feel.

Other bands to watch for if you enjoy the gritty finesse that only comes from an all female collaboration is a trio of women that call themselves Warpaint. Their album entitled “Exquisite Corpse” was recorded with former Chili Pepper guitarist John Frusciante. You will also love the punch packing sound of Toronto based band Tallulah Darling. Their sound resonates the infamous 80′s underground artist Liz Phair.

Slumber Party’s record label, Kill Rock stars was founded by a guy named Slim Moon and could be found in Olympia, Washington and Portland, Oregon. A lot of the Bands they represented were liberal, feminist and didn’t believe in war. Most popular in the 90′s, they’ve represented Gang of Four, Chicks On Speed, Bakini Kill, Bratmobile, Nirvana, Unwound, The Melvins, Xiu Xiu, Deer Hoof, Need New Body, Huggy Bear, Excuxe 17, The Mai Shi, The Robot Ate Me, Metalux, Rock-A-Teens, Le Shok, The Decemberists and more.

Slim Moon in an interview said he founded Kill Rock Stars because he wanted to put his friends music out there because he liked it but none of the other companies wanted to put it out. Most punk bands those days just did a guitar, bass, drum format for their band and this was considered the norm but he did something different. Most of these bands are alternative yet unclassifiable and follow their own paths.

Slumber Party is from Detroit Michigan and was formed in 1998, signed to Kill Rock Star Records in 2000. They have four albums out, “Slumber Party”, “Psychedelicate”, “3″ and “Music”. I’ve listened to these guys and they are great!

The Slumber Girls, an all American girl group, seemed like such opposites who would never be friends, but together they became a compilation of voices that fit together like peanut butter and jelly.

The Girls won an extensive talent search sponsored by a major record label to form a group of singers, dancers and actors. In addition to releasing an album, the girls also hosted “Secret Slumber Party,” a Saturday morning television show.

The Girls were Lina Carattini, Karla Deras, Mallory Low and Caroline Ferguson-Scott. They came from diverse backgrounds, and each brought a unique element that meshed very nicely in an odd sort of way.Want more? Click here/tag Lina brought sass, Karla brought attitude, Mallory brought wit, and Caroline brought the glue that held it all together.

The Slumber Girls took the early teen world by storm and danced and rapped their way into the hearts of fans everywhere. The girls developed a special working chemistry between them that was irresistible and gave the rockers and rappers street credentials. The group had something for everyone, giving themselves a much wider appeal.

The Slumber Girls rocked the rafters with their first CD entitled “Dance Revolution” and brought that momentum to Saturday morning television. The girls quickly became a refined musical melting pot with enough talent to keep the melting pot boiling.

Slumber Party is an all-female pop and rock music group hailing from Detroit, Michigan. In the decade-plus that the group has been active it has crafted a unique sound that’s at times part rock, part electronic synth and part haunting atmosphere. In recent years even some country and pop has crept into the band’s wide array of musical sounds and styles. It creates a unique overall sound that’s tough to imitate and near-impossible to copy. But a select few bands have gotten praise for bringing a sound heavily influenced by and similar to that of Slumber Party.

Mazzy Star is a psychedlic rock duo formed in the late 1980s. Despite coming before Slumber Party it wasn’t until recently that Mazzy Star began exhibiting a similar sound. What began as dark, loud and almost heavy metal songs has turned into a much dreamier, atmospheric sound that blends several genres into long wandering tracks.

Vivian Girls is an all-female indie rock trio from New York City. Their sound is often slightly more energetic and rushed than Slumber Party but the bands share a very similar overall sound. Noisy guitars create an atmospheric, often pop-rock foundation for songs that move from high-speed guitar riffs and static noise into quieter, moody harmonics almost effortlessly.Take a look here to learn more: The Republikas Song Of The Day: Mazzy Star – Fade In To You

Techno rock/pop all girl group Slumber Party began because of a nationwide talent search by Geffen Records back in 2006. The members of the group are all from different parts of the country and are all different nationalities. The members of the group are Mallory Low, Carolina Carattini, Caroline Ferguson, Karla Deras and Cassandra Scerbo. They released one album called “Dance Revolution” and had limited success with that.

Some of the music group Slumber Party’s best known songs and videos are “The Texting Song,” “My Life,” and “Countdown.” They were featured on a show on CBS on Saturday mornings called “Secret Slumber Party”, and their music was also featured in the popular show Dance Revolution.

The band broke up in 2007, and two of its members went on to acting careers. Cassie Scerbo went on to act in two films in 2008, one was called “Bring It On, In It To Win It” which went to DVD and received mixed reviews. Mallory Low went on to act in the Nickelodeon series “Just For Kicks” and also went on to make several guest appearances on the TV show ER. Karla Deras moved on to become a fashion blogger and stylist.
